generally believed short men are more inclined than tall men to outfit their ladyfriends in fancy costumes What your grandmother called housemaid's knee and your granddad called tennis elbow both now are known simply as bursitis And the Japanese also market a chewing gum with a pickled herring flavor I'm told "A spinster" said Pat Suzuki "is a girl who never learned how to tie a beau" That's cute but not cruel Cruel is what a magazine called a spinster Namely "an unlusted number" And whoever it was that described a spinster as "a girl who lives alone and looks it" was just plain wrong At any rate argument continues as to what age a single girl correctly can be called a spinster It's age 31 After that year the statistics indicate she's more apt to remain unattached than to marry Evelyn "Because they Hadacol it something" A popular 1940's "boogie woogie" song also extolled the virtues of Hadacol "I took 'ha' for happy 'da' for day and 'co' for company and of course added 'L' for LeBlanc" he once said explaining the odd name for his tonic LeBlanc ran into legal difficulties in the mid-1950's after selling Hadacol to another patent medicine company for an undisclosed amount of cash He was indicted in May 1957 for federal income tax evasion in connection with the operations of Hadacol The federaal government also sued LeBlanc for false advertising Both cases were dismissed The colorful Cajun began his political career in the 1920's and became an archrival of the late Gov Huey Long LeBlanc was a familiar sight in the state capitol constantly chewing fat brown cigars shaking hands and chattering in French to passersby Was Correct OCTOBER 5 1971 WALTERS David of 6437 Bolin Way Rio Linda a girl SIGMAN William of 101 Peterson Circle Mather Air Force Base a boy WOODWORTH John of 9996 FrooM Circle a girl OCTOBER 6 1971 TAYLOR William of 541 Morse Ave a boy HAMILTON Ulysses of 322 Anders Dr Mather Air Force Base a girl HITCHINS John of 10165 La Gloria Way Rancho Cordova a girl KEESEE Lawrence of 4801 Watt Ave North Highlands a boy OCTOBER 7 MI BAUMANN Richard of 2950 Del Paso Blvd a boy NISWONGER George of 2975 Marysville Blvd a girl OCTOBER 8 1971 GUTIERREZ Gerardo of 7911 Mohican Way a boy OCTOBER 10 1971 BRYANT David of 10249 Malaga Way Rancho Cordova a girl JACKSON James of 3564 Gemini Way a boy MANCELL Brian of 4825 50th Ave a girl McCLUNG Larnie of 9160 Tuolumne Or a boy OCTOBER 11 1917 ANDERSON Samuel of 1014 North Aye a boy SCANTLING Edgar of 3306 Davidson North Highlands a girl SUTTER Charles of 110 Dean Terrace Mather Air Force Base a boy OCTOBER 12 1971 La VACCA Frank of 1205C Persifer St Folsom a girl DUDA Richard of 3410 Mission Ave Carmichael a girl OCTOBER 13 1971 WARREN Robert of 2404 Hur ley Way a boy WILLOUGHBY William of 2573 Rio Linda Blvd a girl OCTOBER 14 1971 KROLL Richard of 2543 Zinfandel Rancho Cordova a boy OCTOBER 15 1971 RAMSEY Lonnie of 3448 St worth Highlands a girl STACAVICH Robert of 2536 Ribier Way Rancho Cordova a boy YOUNGMAN Robert of 2613 CagitaleS Dr Rancho Cordova a boy OCTOBER 17 1971 BIMONTE Harry of 3318 Polaris a girl HOOVER Terry of 1101 Westward Way a girl MARRIAGE LICENSES Vote Is Slated on Fall River Tax Override McClatctiy Newspapers Service BURNEY Shasta Co Voters in the Fall River Joint Unified School District will go to the polls Jan 11 to decide on a $150 override tax proposal Trustees have approved the proposal to raise the tax rate in the district from $245 to $365 per $100 of assessed valuation A citizens override committee had recommended a $173 tax but announced it would back the lower figure The money would be used to rebuild district reserves maintenance and for Vote Is on Fal Tax oas mcciatctiy!
